Ancholic Polli Unnayan Sangstha (APUS) is a human rights & socio-economic development-based organization founded in Bangladesh. Incepted in December 1999, APUS has been working for social development through institution building, awareness raising & fund provides to reach a cohesive society where elements of peace, justice, and equality prevail.
APUS has practiced the culture of free and open thinking to address a number of sectors including human rights, preventing violent extremism, women’s empowerment, and climate change to name a few. APUS has developed a human rights-based approach and institutionalized it through the formation of a number of groups namely Human Rights Protection Group, Women Rights Protection Group, Human Rights Lawyers Forum, School Theater Group, Youth Volunteers Group, District Multi-stakeholders Platform, Science Music Youth Alliance. More than 1500 women, men, youth, and adolescents including 100 trained and active community actors from diverse professions work in these groups.
With a view to fighting poverty and assisting housing finance, APUS has been operating microfinance programs in the rural areas of Naogaon district, without any collateral. As of June 2025, APUS’ microfinance program has reached more than 2000 beneficiaries, 99 percent of whom are women.
